Dr. Daniel Seebacher is Lead Developer and Senior Data Analyst at Subsequent GmbH since 2021 with a special focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and the conceptual design and implementation of customer projects in areas such as motion analysis and football based on optical tracking technologies. He received his PhD from the University of Konstanz in 2021 on the topic “Visual Analytics of Spatial Events: Methods for the Interactive Analysis of Spatio-Temporal Data Abstractions”. He is involved in over 30 peer-reviewed publications with over 600 citations, additionally he is a reviewer for the “IEEE Transactions on Visualisation and Computer Graphics” and the “Eurographics Conference on Visualization”. Subsequent provides highly accurate, real-time tracking systems and motion analysis based on simple video recordings such as smartphone recordings. No complex multi-camera infrastructures are required. Subsequent’s customers include sports clubs and associations, as well as clinics, research institutes and home fitness companies. Subsequent has been awarded numerous prestigious award, for example, “Digital Start-up of the Year 2023” by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), “Baden-Württemberg Innovation Award 2022”, “AI Champion Baden-Württemberg 2023” as well as winner of the “KfW Award Gründen 2023”. Subsequent is leading several research projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. Among these projects is the SMARTGAIT project, which aims to develop a system that supports medical staff in analyzing the gait of people with neurological disorders. It collects AI-based data using simple smartphone video recordings. Interactive movement analyses visualize the relevant analysis parameters. This enables fast, individualized feedback for patients. Medical professionals can thus compare rehabilitation processes with each other. By combining innovative technologies, SMARTGAIT minimizes time- and cost-intensive work steps and makes valid gait analyses widely available for the first time.
