Eric Eils is professor of sport science at the University of Münster, Germany. He received a degree of the first and second state examination in mathematics and physical education and finished his PhD at the orthopedic department of the University Clinics in Münster (Dr. rer. medic) in 1999 with an emphasize in biomechanics, statistics and anatomy. He worked as a researcher at the orthopedic research lab (orthopedic department) for many years focusing on gait analyses in patients. He also worked as a teacher in a grammar school for several years. In parallel, he finished his professorial dissertation (Habilitation) in movement science in 2008 and is now working as researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Sport and Exercise Sciences of the University of Münster since 2012. He has numerous research interests including ankle instability, clinical gait and movement analysis in sports, analyzing and optimizing training processes using different methodological approaches, performance diagnostics, the control of posture and gait, and interpersonal coordination when performing actions in dyads or teams. He published mainly in international journals in the mentioned fields and also acted as a peer reviewer for many national and international scientific journals and research funding institutions. Prof. Eils is associated Editor of the German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research.
