TBrainBoost ERA WEEK 3.0 Strengthens Collaboration for Health Innovation and Healthy Ageing

As part of TBrainBoost ERA Week 3.0, organised by ZRS Koper, key stakeholders from research, academia, innovation support organisations and industry met to explore future collaboration opportunities in the fields of healthy ageing, rehabilitation and health technologies.

The event brought together representatives of ZRS Koper, including Prof. Rado Pišot, Director of ZRS Koper, Prof. Boštjan Šimunič, Head of the Institute for Kinesiology Research, Prof. Uroš Marušič, Coordinator of the TBrainBoost project, Ana Šajn and Vesna Valenčič from the Project Office, as well as Maja Tomanič Vidovič, Director of the Slovenian Enterprise Fund (SPS). International experts, including Prof. Paul de Roos (Uppsala University), Dr. Mitja Gerževič (Alma Mater Europaea) and Dr. Michael Schwenk (University of Konstanz), contributed valuable insights on innovation, rehabilitation technologies and knowledge transfer.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between research organisations, healthcare providers and industry to accelerate the development, validation and implementation of innovative solutions addressing the challenges of ageing populations. Participants exchanged examples of successful international cooperation, including rehabilitation technologies, artificial intelligence-based movement analysis and digital health solutions.

A dedicated meeting with Marko Gluhak, Director of Mobilica d.o.o., explored opportunities for collaboration around the SimFit2Drive platform, an innovative solution supporting the assessment of functional abilities related to driving. Discussions focused on research validation, pilot studies and the potential application of the technology in different target groups.

The event also laid the foundations for future cooperation with Prof. Jan Wilke (University of Bayreuth) and Prof. Marco Narici, a leading expert in ageing physiology and muscle function. Planned activities include joint research projects, researcher mobility, knowledge exchange and the development of long-term research programmes in ageing, rehabilitation and movement science.

TBrainBoost ERA Week 3.0 reaffirmed the importance of connecting research excellence, technological innovation, healthcare needs and entrepreneurial capacity. By fostering sustainable international partnerships and cross-sector collaboration, the initiative contributes to the transfer of scientific knowledge into practical solutions that benefit citizens, healthcare systems and society.
